"Cities and Climate Seminar" takes place tomorrow

The Institute of Advanced Studies (IEA) of the University of São Paulo (USP), the Global Cities Program and the Klimapolis Laboratory are organising the “Cities and Climate Seminar: Action Plans and Adaptation Measures”, as part of the UrbanSus Seminar Series. This seminar aims to present to the community in general, experiences applied in Climate Action Plans in cities of Brazil and Germany. Hamburg and São Paulo climate action plans will be presented, as well as two cases of application of climate adaptation measures related to climate risks in the cities of Santos and São Paulo. Cathrin Zengerling (Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg and Klimapolis Laboratory partner) will talk about the new Hamburg Climate Action Plan. Following that, a round table will be held in Portuguese on the theme of climate action planning in cities, starting with the presentation Laura Ceneviva (São Paulo Green and Environment Municipal Cabinet and Klimapolis Laboratory partner), will talk about the state of the art and the assumptions adopted in the São Paulo 2020 Climate Action Plan, followed by the presentation of two cases of application of climate adaptation measures related to climate risks in the cities of Santos and São Paulo: Adaptation based in Gender Sensitive Ecosystems in the case of Montserrat in Santos, by João Vicente Coffani Nunes from (UNESP), and the work on Hydrological Modeling of the Lajeado Creek basin in São Paulo, to be presented by Ana Paula Koury (Universidade São Judas and Klimapolis Laboratory partner).
